The Janet Mansfield Merit Award for Wood Fired Ceramics was established and is sponsored by Australian Wood Firers United. It was first presented at Clay Gulgong, in 2022. This biennial event, run by Mansfield Ceramics, takes place in a region of north-western New South Wales, Australia, that is globally recognised for its strong links with the field of ceramics. 

 

The inaugural award was jointly won by Steve Williams (NSW) and Su Hanna (Vic in 2022).  In 2024, the award was presented to Joshua Rowell (Vic), by judge Dr Owen Rye.
